100 Things To Do Before You Die

Do you have a Bucket List?

A list of things to do before you die?….I do.

One of those items was to go zip-line trekking.

As a kid I had seen highwire acts and of course you always see in the movies actors zipping across rooftops as if it was easy breezy baby.  Well let me tell you if you want to experience moments of terror this was it.

I am no spring chicken anymore so decided I had better get on with it.
The only one I could convince to go with me was my 10 year old grandson. He only just met the height and weight restrictions in the last 2-3 months for the adult courses.

So I offered a day of tree top trekking to him as a 10th birthday gift.
We went this past Sunday. Needless to say he loved it what boy wouldn’t.

So we started out with the practice runs and graduated to being about 15′ -20′ above the ground.  The advanced runs were much higher.  The Big Zip was the most fun of all and could be done by someone of almost any age…. You just had to climb a big hill and zip to a point on the next hill.

Blair  managed all except the most advanced courses and only missed that one because he was still to short in stature to be able to reach some items on the course.
Here are some pics and videos of him up on the zipline.

As the camera person there are really no pics of my efforts.Just One video which Blair took of me making a crash landing on the beginner zipline.

I managed through the beginner to intermediate courses but the advanced were a bit overwhelming.I was the oldest person there by almost 20 years.

One of the great things about 10 year olds is that they really don’t judge your efforts. They are just happy to have you spend the time and effort with them and to praise their every victory.
Today I ache however, one more item crossed off the Bucket List.

I can get out the A535.  So I feel good about it.  And tomorrow will be another day.

Here’s my beginner zip with crash landing.
