Completed in late 1999, Camden Lofts are fashioned after traditional Toronto lofts, but the building is new from the ground up. There are only 59 suites ranging from 683 sq ft to 1200 square feet. Ceiling heights are 10 feet and units offer exposed concrete walls and ceilings.
Most suites have finished polished and sealed concrete floors, suspended spiral ducts and large multi-paned industrial style windows. Units on the 2nd to the 6th floor are all single level one or 2 bedroom lofts, the seventh and eighth floor house eight penthouses with terraces. Camden Street is a quiet side street located just south of Richmond Street West running west off Spadina Avenue.
The Camden Lofts stands as one of the most sought-after loft buildings in a very up-and-coming area at Richmond and Spadina. Looking at the Camden Lofts, you might think it used to house a textile factory, but look closer and you can see that it is a new building.
The industrial design elements of the exterior – red brick, multiple square pane windows creating lots of light on the interior, combined with the funky interior finishes, including 10′ ceilings, make this a unique, real loft building.
It’s a low-rise, 6 storeys, with approximately 60 suites in total. Some suites have balconies, some suites are 2-storey, but don’t expect a view with this New York style loft. On the inside, suites offer concrete floors, concrete ceilings, and concrete walls between suites. Rolling doors on closets, industrial hardware serving as lights and door handles etc, are common interior finishes.
The Camden Lofts have a security system, lockers, a social room with outdoor patio and commercial units on the first floor. Hydro is metered separately in each suite.
