Kate Middleton and The Gown

I am a Brit, however not particularly a Royal Watcher by any stretch. Whether you are a Royal Watcher or not I am sure you took the time this past weekend to spend an hour watching the wedding of William and Kate Middleton.

Many Canadians and particularly Torontonians celebrated along with the rest of the world. From what I have heard and folks I have spoken with many Toronto  families got up in the wee hours to watch and some even put on specials breakfasts and teas… deciding that they would get in on the fun. Listening to CBC1 I heard that folks were making scones and crumpets and other goodies. A number of the hotels put on special viewings with English teas for breakfast.  Personally I got up and made tea just in time to watch the Royal 1st Kiss on the balcony of the palace.

It is a great way to let the kids see a Royal Wedding with all the pomp and pagentry and learn a little about the heritage that many of us are a part of. With so much history being made and not enough opportunities for just plain fun in our daily lives what a great thing to do.

A beautiful and historic ceremony. If you took the time to watch the full wedding ceremony there was some good marital advice passed along for the new couple from the Bishop of London, the Archbishop of Canbterbury and the Brides brother. All single men…hmmmm interesting.

The big hit of course was Kate’s dress. What did you think of Kates dress, please tell me in the comments box below? I am sure it will be knocked off all over the world. Brides everywhere will be buying and wearing replicas of Kate Middletons dress for the next few years. It was elegant and classic.

What I liked best about it was that Kate Middleton wore the dress, whereas when Diana Princess of Wales married Charles the dress was somehwat overwhelming and it rather wore her. You could truly get a sense of who Kate was and is. It had a decidely Victorian feel while being so very modern. So lets have some comments and your thoughts on the dress if you would please spare a moment. Have a great Sunday.
