I have been looking for a good Philipino restaurant in Toronto for years. It stems from having a Philipino roomate in my youth where I experienced many of her wonderful family dishes on a regular basis. I would wait for weekends to come to smell the heavenly tastes of Philipino stews being conjured on our stove.
So recently when I heard about Casa Manila here in North Toronto on York Mills Rd. near Don Mills I determined to go for lunch at my earliest convenience.
I tend to try places for lunch first as I am a celiac and cannot eat dairy or gluten ( wheat) products. I want to find out if the restauranteur is conscious of dietary allergies and sympathetic. If not usually I can get away quickly after just a bowl of soup or a rice dish.
Thankfully they were lovely owners who accomodated me nicely. Since it was lunch I just had two dishes, a hot and sour pork soup and a noodle dish with chicken and veg.
Both were yummy. This is good home style cooking. Not as great as my roomates, but I will go back with a friend for dinner next time so we can try much more of the menu.
Just wanted you to know where you could try out a new option in Toronto. Here is the Google Places Page for them .
