Weiner Underwear Pictures

I have been watching the news, and following avidly the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal.  Weiner, a NY representative from the Brooklyn district came forward this week, and finally admitted that he had been engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior via facebook and twitter with 6 women.  Four of these women have come forward and confirmed, and provided details.  I’ve seen the pictures he posted via twitter, I read the transcript of his conversations with one of the women that has come forward.   I’ve been following remarks on articles and blogs, and have watched the talking heads discuss his situation on television.  I’ve even seen an interview with one of his sext partners.

In my opinion, too much attention has been placed on the actual sexting he did, and not on his character.  A lot of comments are in the line of “It’s his personal life, it’s between his wife and him”. To a point, that is true.  When he ran for election to PUBLIC office, he made it our business.  Sexting aside – what about the lies?  He got caught with the underwear pix, he lied to the press, his staff, and to us… all the while CONTINUING to sext and on an even more lewd level.  When caught again, he had to semi-confess.  He looked sincere, he looked humble, he cried.  Wasn’t he sorry when he got caught the first time?  I don’t think so.  He thought his lawyer-speak and his power would get him out of it.  I don’t know if it was arrogance, ignorance, or mental illness.

So now it goes to character.  How can you trust him to do his job when all this mess is going on?  Is he going on unpaid leave while it gets sorted out?  Of course we can forgive him for his moral transgressions, for me, they’re not really that big of a deal, had he not been so  deceitful.  This is a man that managed to deceive his beloved wife for the entire length of his marriage. She trusted him.  We trusted him. His lies began a long time ago.   It goes back to character.  If you choose to back and uphold a serial liar as a representative of you and your country, if you choose to have this man as a role model for your children, then that is your choice.   I have no respect for him.

The women he engaged in his sexual talks are now victims.  Granted, it was poor judgement on their parts to get involved with a married man, and a powerful government figure.  But, as Mr. Weiner is aware, that power can be an allure, and he used it.  Weiner’s sext partners are now coming forward.  Worse yet, Breitbart, the publisher/blogger who broke the story, was libeled and slandered as Mr. Weiner tried to cover up his indiscretions.

I do believe he has broken house ethics policies.  1. A Member, officer, or employee of the House of Representatives shall conduct himself at all times in a manner which shall reflect creditably on the House of Representatives. Keyword being creditably … http://usgovinfo.about.com/blhousecode.htm and hope that the ethics committee doesn’t spend too much time and tax payers money on ‘investigating’ it.   Weiner should do the right thing and resign now.
